| A new year, a new set of goals | | Print | |

The school year is about to start and it is time to get all your ducks in a row before you are swamped with work. Whether you are in grade seven or grade 12, it is important to set goals at the beginning of the year that you can reflect upon. I've recently moved and will begin tutoring in Kelowna while continuing to commute to Kamloops a few days a week. An example of the most common goal is "get all A's this semester" or perhaps "getting on the effort honour roll". If these goals seem daunting, trying something more simple such as "getting all my homework done by 2 pm Saturday afternoon each weekend" or "not missing any assignments" or my personal favorite "don't be late for class".
It is good to start the year with a goal in mind that you can revisit and be sure you are making the necessary adjustments to meet these goals. You will probably not meet the goal right away, but realize that an action you took prevented you from meeting your goal and adjust.
